Our Story:
It was a love for the theatre that brought Joe, Joshua and Christopher together in 1990.
They used to hide out in their high school’s theater (when they were supposed to be in other classes) and talk of the day when they would have their own theatre company. All three, after graduating from Trabuco Hills High School (Mission Viejo, Calif.), went on to professional careers in the performing arts as actors, directors, writers and educators while their friendship continued to grow. Even when they were living on opposite sides of the country – touring, or working for other theaters – the thought of their own space was never lost.
Flash forward to late 2007, at the T.G.I. Fridays in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. when the boys decided that now was the time to put their dreams into action and the Modjeska Playhouse was born. The three founding artists still live in South Orange County (Rancho Santa Margarita and Irvine) and are aware of the need for more cultural experiences in the local community.
The Modjeska Playhouse (named after Helena Modjeska, a Shakespearian actress that also called this area home, and the Modjeska peak, the northern peak of the Saddleback mountain range), its artists, and supporters are committed to producing quality professional theatrical works in the Saddleback Valley.
Joe, Joshua and Christopher’s love for the theatre and their hometowns are as strong as ever.
